We develop strong and lasting partnerships

Rather than the usual approach of developing workshops in a developed country and then presenting them in developing countries, we work with the people and organizations in the developing country to tailor the content of each workshop to exactly what is needed by them. This process takes more work and is longer to implement but it results in better technical content that is focused directly on what each country needs most at this point in time. Following is the five step process that we take:

Step 1. Someone in an organization in a developing country fills out the simple email request form in our web site (the link to the email form is at the bottom of the page titled "Country Assistance"). They briefly explain the kind of assistance needed, i.e., maybe a workshop with several topics from the list in this web site in a prioritized order - or maybe a request for a visiting student/professor with a brief description of the kind of expertise or experience desired and a suggested host country.

Step 2. We respond with follow-up questions and, when we all agree that we know what is needed, then a letter on the organization's letterhead is mailed to us with that request.

Step 3. We submit the detailed request to our Advisory Board of Directors for their approval and advice.

Step 4. Upon the Board's approval we research funding organizations (based on the Board's advice) and apply for funding for the request.

Step 5. When the funding is received we schedule the workshop or the visiting student/professor trip and provide all the support and
logistics necessary to make the funded program a success.

Funding may come from many different sources. These may include national and international foundations as well as private foundations. Funding may also come from private companies and organizations who can contribute funds or in-kind contributions. In-kind contributions may consist of the loan of equipment and/or instructors (for example, in the case of analytical instrument companies) or in products such as analytical reference materials or safety supplies.

Working with many different partners will enable maximum leverage of funds and in-kind contributions as we work to achieve the best technical assistance that we can provide for organizations in developing countries.
