The Environmental and Chemical Safety Educational Institute (ECSEI) is a  501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization registered with the Secretary of State in North Carolina and it is managed by Co-Directors in Laboratory Chemical Safety and in Environmental Chemistry with assistance from an Advisory Board of Directors.

Dr. Douglas B. Walters and Dr. Lawrence H. Keith are Co-Directors of the Institute. Both are internationally recognized as highly experienced leaders in their respective fields.

  • Dr. Walters is President of KCP, Inc., a consulting company in Raleigh, NC specializing in laboratory health and safety, laboratory ventilation and hoods, industrial hygiene, training, and technical writing. He was Director of Laboratory Health and Safety for the National Toxicology Program (NTP) for 20 years at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS, NIH).

  • Dr.  Keith is President of Instant Reference Sources, Inc., a consulting company in Monroe, GA specializing in environmental monitoring, QA/QC, analytical methods for anti-terrorism, training, and expert systems. He has over 40 years of experience and has served as Corporate Fellow at Radian International, LLC in Austin, TX and as a Vice President at the Waste Policy Institute in Blacksburg, VA

      The Advisory Board of Directors is composed of distinguished scientists in the fields of chemical laboratory safety and environmental chemistry. All members of the Board are volunteers who contribute their time because "chemists helping chemists" is a vital component in helping developing countries to understand and to minimize environmental contamination and to practice modern laboratory safety as they grow in technology and industrialization.     Mr. D. Jeff Burton , CIH, a member of AIHA, ACGIH, and ASHRAE and a renowned safety training intructor.
